Attendance Allowance - A basic State Benefit that is so often overlooked and not claimed.
If you or someone you know is aged 65 or over and has developed a need for care and support that has existed for 6 months or longer, and whose care and support is not fully funded by the NHS then additional income which is non means tested and non taxable could be available.
It is paid at 2 rates and after April 5th 2022 the lower rate will increase to £61.85 per week and the higher rate will increase to £92.40 per week.
The decision on which rate is payable will be dependant upon the level of care and support that is needed during the day and/or night time. This potential additional income would come in very useful if you are struggling with additional energy costs or paying for someone to help you with with your daily tasks in and around your home.
It will also continue to be paid if you enter residential care as long as you are self funding the cost. This is additional income of up to £4,800 per year!
The application form can be downloaded from the internet but for help and support to complete the form please refer to Gloucestershire Age UKs comprehensive guide to completing your Attendance Allowance Form.
