CQC's annual assessment of health care and social care in England

The Care Quality Commission ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE IN ENGLAND has announced that ‘In 2022 the health and care system is gridlocked, unable to operate effectively’ and ‘that too often people just can’t access the care they need.’

With it reported that ‘only 2 in 5 people are able to leave hospital when they are ready to do so,’ relying increasingly on the social care sector and unpaid family and friends as carers will in turn impact, if not already, those active in the workforce, which in turn impacts the Government’s mandate to run the country.

The report thus reinforces the accelerating demand for care, whether in care homes, or the community, with investor demand backed up by the much-needed social care reform predicted to continue into the foreseeable future.

As a new Government takes its place at Number 10 Care England continues to advocate for the further funding to support the true cost of care alongside the staff recruitment and retention challenge for the vital social care sector.  Siobhan Stirling of Sharp Minds provides ‘practical recruitment and retention resources for your care home.’
